Our Solidarity
Message is as follows;
The Chamoru People of Guam, The Chamoru Nation, stands in firm Solidarity
with our Okinawan Brothers & Sisters against the continued occupation
of their lands by the U.S. Armed Forces as well as the Japanese Military.
The proposed plans to further destroy the environment, livelihood and
well being of the Okinawan people by forces intending to push for more destruction
by relocating the Futenma Air Base to yet another site in Okinawa is
nothing less than abusive and unjust oppression of the community as a
whole.
The Chamoru Nation firmly believes the
U.S. Forces must be relocated back to the United States where they
belong, where there is plenty of land sitting idle and many of their
country men calling for their return. The Chamoru Nation further states
that Guam is not owned by the United States and is also unfit for the
relocate these US soldiers and their bases.
The Chamoru Nation appeals upon the
conscience of Japan's Prime Minister to reject the demands of the US
officials to continue funding the US Military build-up of bases in
Okinawa & Guam and that the funding be used for the necessary social
service programs & educational needs of the community, which is what
the funds are intended for.
The people of Okinawa & Japan have made their decision quite clear:
NO more US bases! The Prime Minister and other elected official are
obligated to honor the sentiment of the people whom they were chosen
serve.
For peace and justice, together in solidarity,
The Chamoru Nation
