Staff Sargeant Enrique Salas Cruz was my first cousin, our mothers are sisters. As a family, we were grieved upon hearing the news that he was killed in action in the Vietnam Conflict. I remember very vividly on one occasion Ricky and I were tasked to transport a carabao from Inarajan to Yigo. He was driving and we talked that whole night about life. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. That was the last time I saw him alive.
