Olanok - Gåni Islands (Islands north of Sa’ipan)

Olanok was a brave warrior from the Gåni Islands (Islands north of Sa’ipan).  He fought in many battles and had learned how to use the Spaniard musket.

He was accused of the death of many Spanish soldiers in 1684.  It was revealed that he had planned to kill a Chamoru traitor Master –of-Camp Don Antonio Ayhi and Father Comano.

On another encounter, he fired at the Spaniards, one of the shots nearly hitting Father Juan de Ahumada.

Olanol was eventually captured but was later released.

It was disclosed that his 12 year old niece namely Felipa Eyiyi negotiated his pardon with the Governor.

Olanok’s fate after the war was never recorded.
