Maga’Låhi Ilåo - Tomhom, Guåhan

Maga’Låhi Ilåo was a warrior from Tomhom noted for fighting along the side of Maga’Låhi Matåpang.

During the CHamoru and Spanish war, Ilåo was instrumental in many of the raids against the Spaniards.  In one event, Ilåo diverted the Spaniards and their armory in taking the only passage to Hagåtña.

Ilåo and other warriors cut down trees and made it impassable.  The Spaniards had no choice but to walk the reef, with their heavy armory.

Ilåo and other warriors took advantage of the situation and attacked.  Ilåo also assisted Matåpang in avenging his daughter’s baptism and death against San Vitores.

Ilåo was eventually killed in an ambush in Luta in 1679.
