Thank you for your interest in the National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program. The 2014 NHSC Scholarship Program application cycle is now open. All completed applications must be submitted by May 15, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. ET to be considered for an award. Please refer to the Application and Program Guidance for all of the program requirements.
Eligibility is open to all students who are U.S. citizens or nationals and are enrolled in a fully accredited training program for Physicians (MD or DO), Dentists, Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse-Midwives or Physician Assistants at a U.S. accredited school.
Applicants are encouraged to begin the application process early. On average, it takes approximately 3 weeks to complete the application process. Please encourage applicants to locate loan and supplemental documentation as well as begin requesting letters of recommendation and official school transcripts.
The NHSC Scholarship Program is expected to be competitive. If there are more qualified applicants than available funding, the Program will continue to prioritize applicants who are from a disadvantaged background and applicants who demonstrate a commitment to continuing to serve high-need communities after their service to the NHSC is complete.
Scholarship support includes tax-free payment of tuition, required fees, other reasonable educational costs, and a taxable monthly living stipend. For each year of financial support an NHSC Scholarship recipient serves one year at an NHSC-approved site in one of many high-need urban, rural, and frontier communities. The Program requires one year of service for each year of support with a minimum of two years of service and a maximum of four years of support and service.
Applicants are encouraged to participate in the Application Help conference call when questions will be addressed on March 27, 2014 from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET. To participate, please call 1-877-917-6902 and enter the following passcode 5854645.
