Da’on - Cao, Sa’ipan

Da’on was a brave warrior from Cao, Sa’ipan.  Along with other great warriors, Da’on fought the Spaniards during the CHamoru/Spanish War.

The CHamorus became incensed when word got around that children were dying after they were baptized with water by the priests.

All the people throughout the villages of Sa’ipan were outraged with what the Spaniards were doing.

A battle ensued in 1670, resulting in the death of Jesuit Luis de Medina and his soldiers.  The Spaniards sent reinforcements to Sa’ipan that led to the capture of Da’on.

He was accused of the death of Jesuit Luis de Medina and his soldiers and was taken to Ti’nian to be tried.

He was brought to Guåhan for final disposition, but instead, Da’on was shot and killed in prison by the guards while still bound in chains.

Da’on died on April 28, 1670.
